League hosts reserve the right to, at any time, make any exception or alteration to the rules they deem necessary, but normally rules will never be changed during seasons.
Suggestions for rule changes for future seasons may be posted on the discussion thread on funkysnooker forum or sent to the league hosts directly - input and opinions are encouraged!
2 Clan Format and Requirements
2.1 Clan Size
Clans must have a minimum of 7 players. Each clan may have a maximum of 12 players. Players must play for the same clan in the league and cup. (Ex. A player may not play for Allstarz in the league and for Anger Management in the Cup).
2.2 Captain responsibilities
Captains are expected to make sure their players are aware of which games they need to play and by which deadline.
2.3 Team lists for each fixture
Teamlists must be sent to dgeneratio or whocares8x8 by the announced deadline.
For each league fixture, captains must nominate from their teamsheet:
- 1 player for arcade
- 1 player for regular
- 1 player for original
- 1 player for carom
- 1 player for power
- 2 players for mixed (playing 2 arc, 2 reg, 2 orig)
If the captains do not provide their list of nine players by the announced deadline, the league runner(s) will choose the first 7 names from the list of 12 players the captains sent in before start of season or the lineup from the previous fixture will be used.
2.4 Free Agents
A free agent is any player not registered to a clan involved in the clan league. Captains may sign free agents at any time. Members of clans which are not involved in the clan league are considered free agents for the purposes of the clan league.
2.5 Withdrawing clans
When a clan withdraws from the league during the season, all players in that clan are immediately considered free agents and may be signed by other clans at any time.
2.6 League host notification
Captains must inform the league staff of any changes to the personnel in their clan by posting in the Team Changes thread. This includes all players leaving and joining the clan.
2.7 Player transfers
From the moment the first league fixtures are released, players must stick with their clan. Transfers are only allowed during a 1 week transfer window later in the season. If a player transfers before the transfer window, they will not be eligible to play until after the transfer window.
After the transfer window, no further transfers are allowed.
There is no transfer window for Cup Games. Once a player plays in a cup fixture, they may not play in the cup for another clan.
2.7.1 Signing free agents
Free agents can be signed throughout the entire season (Quarantine, rule 2.8 applies). If a free agent was a member of a clan after the transfer window, he can not play for another clan for the duration of the season.
2.7.2 Free agent account age
Once the season has started, free agents are only eligible to play for a clan when their account is at least 31 days old. This rule does not apply during the transfer window.
2.7.3 Loans
Clans that are struggling to survive may loan players from other clans.
This is only a temporary condition and can only be used in absolute emergencies for the purpose of preventing a clan from folding. It allows the captain to sign new players for the next fixtures.
Loans must be approved by the clan runner as well as the captains of the clans involved in the loan.
2.8 Quarantine Rule
A clan member signed during the ongoing fixture will be placed under a quarantine of 1 fixture set. They may not sub into the current fixture but may compete in the next set of fixtures.
A team change is to be posted in team changes thread. Any change before the start of the next fixture is valid.
Although players may still transfer during the pre-season friendlies, the quarantine rule applies. They will be eligible to play in Fixture 1.
3 Game Format
3.1 Game Length
The length of the clan game depends on your designated game type:
6 frames of Arcade
6 frames of Regular
6 frames of Original
6 frames of Carom
3 frames of Power
2 frames of Arcade, Regular, and Original ("Mixed")
2 frames of Killer
3.2 Game Room Type
a) Both players must agree to play Ranked games in the game room. If no agreement can be reached, the games must be played as friendly unranked games.
b) If a player accidentally invites to Ranked, the other player must agree or the Ranked game will be canceled and the remaining must be played as friendly unranked games.
In the case of b) happening and the player agrees to play Ranked then the frame will count.
Spectators may be invited if both players agree.
League Runners are allowed to watch.
3.3 Shot Time Limit
Both players must agree on a time limit between 20 and 60 seconds. If no agreement can be reached, 20 seconds will be the time limit.
3.4 Break-offs
Both players must break off 3 times. In power snooker, one player must break off twice (random).
3.5 Killer
Two killer games are to be played in every fixture. Any players on the teamsheet can play in the killer games. The opposing clans will have to arrange a suitable time.
If the killer games have not been played by the last day, the game will automatically be played at 9pm GMT on the night of the deadline. Whoever is online and available at that time may play.
Although 2 vs 2 or more is the ideal format, only a minimum of 2 players from one clan and 1 player from the other need to be present to play the game (ex. 2 from All Starz and 1 from Black Ballers).
4 Scoring System
4.1 Scoring points
Each frame won by a player scores a point for their clan for the appropriate fixture.
The killer games are won by the team with the winning player. The score is determined by the number of players of the winning team remaining in the game at the end:
1 player- 2:1
2 players- 3:0
In other words, the winner of each killer game gets 2 points, the 2nd-place finisher gets 1 point.
4.2 Fixture bonus points
Each clan will receive 7 Bonus Points for each fixture completed without defaults. If it is determined by the defaults team that all remaining incomplete games are one clan's fault (ex.: due to players conceding or refusing to play) the other clan will still be awarded 7 bonus points.
4.3 Results
Players are expected to post breaks and results on the appropriate threads on the funkysnooker forums.
4.4 Completed games by banned users
After a game is completed, if league runners have a good indication that a player has been banned for playing duplicate accounts, the opposing captain has the option of letting the score stand or resetting to 0-0. If the score is reset, the clan has the option of entering a substitute for the banned player. In case that game subsequently heads to defaults, the time up to the substitution will be considered inactivity by the offending clan.
4.5 Ties at the end of the season
If two teams are tied at the top of the table at the end of the season, a playoff will be played with following format:
Both teams nominate 1 player for each game type. The matches will be a race to 3 in arcade, regular, original, carom, and race to 2 in power.
Each match win gives your team 1 point. The clan that wins 3+ out of the 5 matches wins the league.
5 Substitutions
5.1 Informing league hosts
All substitutions must immediately be posted in the League substitutions thread. This enables fixtures and the web site to be updated promptly.
5.2 Substitution Guidelines
An unlimited number of substitutions are allowed as long as long as they are valid.
5.2.1 Swaps
You may not use substitutions to gain a more favorable fixture. Swaps are not allowed except in case of a time zone/availability issue.
Both captains must agree to a swap.
This applies only to swaps within the same game type. (Ex.: A player in an arcade game may be swapped with a player in an original game in the same fixture. However, a player in the mixed game may not be swapped with the player in the other mixed game in the same fixture).
5.2.2 Player Eligibility
No player can play more than 1 individual game in a single fixture. All players are eligible to play in the killer game, regardless of whether they have played another game in the fixture.
Players not listed in the clan league team at the beginning of the fixture may not be substituted in (Quarantine Rule).
Players otherwise ineligible to play may not be substituted in (ex. cup-tied).
Players are eligible to play in the Cup and Plate Final only if they were signed at least two fixtures prior to the final.
5.3 Cancelling Subs
Substitutions may be cancelled. This will be recorded as another sub. Once a game has started, substitutions can no longer be cancelled.
Please follow these guidelines:
- Post on substitutions thread.
- Post on opponent's thread.
- Message the players involved
5.4 Substitutions in Cup Games
A player that is substituted out of a cup game is only eligible to be subbed back into that same game. This stops any possible match fixing in Cup matches.
6.0 Partially Played Games
6.1 Definition
A partially played game is a game in which at least one frame is completed, but fewer than the complete game format.
6.2 Scoring
A partially played game is decided as the current result + defaults for the remaining (unplayed) frames (see Defaults)
6.3 Disconnects during games
If a player leaves during a frame (unless due to clearly unintentional connection problems), the frame will be awarded to the opponent (opponent's discretion- the opponent may decide whether to claim the frame, award it to the disconnected player, or replay it). If the disconnected player had effectively won the frame at the time of disconnection (ex. opponent needed snookers), they will be awarded the frame. Clan league runners will only intervene in case of clear unintentional disconnection or to award the frame to the disconnected player.
6.4 Aborted Games
In the case where a player has to abort the game (for whatever reason), both players are equally expected to maintain efforts to get the remaining part of the game played by the deadline.
6.5 Substitutions in Partially Played Games
Once a game is started between two players, no substitution may be made. An exception is allowed when a player is banned, removed from a clan, or leaves a clan. In this case, the game may be abandoned and restarted at 0-0 with a sub for the player in question or a player may be subbed in to finish the game with the current score. In any case, both captains must agree.
Players removed under Rule 6.5 may not play a clan game for that clan for 2 fixture sets.
7 Defaults
7.1 Definition
A default is a manually decided game result, decided by the default panel, and based on guidelines outline in the following paragraphs.
7.2 Forfeiting Games
Games may NOT be forfeited by neither the clans, captains nor players involved. Any game that is less than 100% completed is determined according to the default guidelines.
7.3 Killer Defaults
If the game isn't arranged and not enough players are available on deadline night at 9pm, the following table will be used for defaults:
If 3 players are available vs 0 available, the default is 6-0.
If it's 2 vs 0, the default is 4-0.
If it's 1 vs 0, the default is 1-0.
If it's 1 vs 1, the default is 1-1.
If it's 0 vs 0, the default is 0-0.
7.4 The default panel
The default panel is a group of people chosen by the league hosts to rule on default and other decisions. See section 1 for a complete list of league staff.
7.5 Sending info to the league staff
Messages between opponents MUST be sent to dgeneratio or whocares8x8 within 48 hours after the deadline. They can also be sent before the deadline is over.
Captains should message their players about default information. If no messages are sent to dgeneratio or whocares8x8 by 48 hours after the deadline, the default is decided on activity alone. It is the league runners job to ask for defaults from captains.
7.6 Number of points awarded
Default points will be given out when a game is unfinished.
- The points are divided among the two players based on the overall effort made by each player (as determined by messages, posts, activity, etc.).
Note: If the default team decides that not enough effort was made by the players to get the game done, not all 6 points must be awarded.
7.7 Decisions
No default should ever be decided without input from at least two people from the default panel.
Panel members may comment on games from their own clan.
However, if a panelist is biased and does not cast a fair judgment, the decision will be ignored. Repeated cases may result in exclusion from the default panel.
7.8 Multiple Defaults
A list of players at fault for defaults will be updated after each fixture set.
Defaults from the current and two previous seasons are taken into consideration. Any player who receives 2 or fewer points in a default decision is added to the list.
A player's third entry to the list triggers an automatic warning. Any subsequent defaults after the warning (where the default panel determines the player is at fault) will trigger an automatic suspension of 1 fixture set. Further defaults may lead to stronger penalties at the discretion of the default panel.
8 Cup
Format: 6v6 fixtures
Captains nominate 6 players who each play:
1 Frame of Arcade
1 Frame of Regular
1 Frame of Original
1 Frame of Carom
1 Frame of Power
(Order is irrelevant)
The Clan with the most frames won at the end of the cup fixture wins the tie. Standings within each group are ordered by fixture wins (2 points for a win; 1 point for a tie). If two or more teams are tied at the end of the group stages, the frame difference decides the order. In case of equal frame differences, a tiebreaker as described in Rule 4.5 is played. Similarly in case of a tie in knockout rounds where no tie is allowed, a tiebreaker as described in Rule 4.5 is played.
Players that have played in a cup match are ineligible to play in the cup for any other clan for the remainder of the season. Players are eligible to play in the Cup and Plate Final only if they were signed at least two fixtures prior to the final.
The exact format of the cup (who proceeds through the group stages to the Cup and Plate) is determined and announced at the start of each season.
9 Code of Conduct
Participation in the clan league means you have agreed to follow the principles of fair play to the best of your ability (while playing and on the forums).
These include:
a) Respect each other! Do not shout at, abuse, or treat the opponent unfairly in any way.
b) Do not attempt to put your opponent off (pm'ing during shot, or speaking when opponent has asked for silence).
c) Do not say things like "gg wp" before the frame is decided, unless you are absolutely sure the opponent doesn't mind. Many people are put off by this. In case of doubt, saying 'gg wp' should occur when you are so far behind, that you wouldn't carry on for snookers.
d) There are no "pushouts" in snooker. When snookered, make an honest attempt to hit a ball that is on.
9.1 Second Accounts
Any second accounts will be automatically banned from the clan league. The case will be referred to the default team.
9.2 Conceding
Do not concede an entire fixture. All frames should be played. If you attempt to concede frames without playing them, you will be issued a warning. Subsequent violations may lead to further sanctions.
9.3 Complaints
If players have a problem with their opponent,
please contact League Admin: dgeneratio or whocares8x8
The League Runner may watch the match to make sure rules are being followed so do not hesitate to ask if its urgent.
Any breach will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the defaults team or league runners, as appropriate.
9.4 League Runners
Please treat the league runners respectfully. They are here to help.
9.5 Funkysnooker Rules
You MUST follow the funkysnooker rules.
